DART’S – BETWS RFC V RUMOURS

The team continued with its run of victories with a hard fought win over the Rumours Wine Bar. The boys had been soundly beaten in the away fixture played earlier in the season when a severely depleted team made the long trip to Ammanford. There were no such excuses on this occasion with a full squad available for selection. The allegedly strong threesome of AR, TD and JT opened up for the club but were unable to make any sort of impression and lost. First blood to the Rumours! AS, MT and DG then followed and made it one apiece with MT hitting D9 to win.

The wily old fox DG then stayed on to partner AO in the opening pairs which they won with AR hitting D8 to win. CM then made his long awaited return partnering MT in the second pairs but with Rumours hitting 70 to go out, the score moved to 2-2 (nail biting stuff). AR and cousin TD then came out with all guns blazing - and lost!

The singles saw AO opening for Betws and hit D9 to tie the match at 3-3 and TD then gained his first point of the night by hitting D4 to put us 4-3 in the lead. AS then joined the action and hoped to continue his fine form to date but failed miserably with three-dart totals of 7, 9, 5 and 9 not helping the cause. AR then made it 5-4 with some nifty “arrers”, but JT,  making a brief appearance from under cover was as bad, if not worse, than AS, making the score 5-5 to the visitors. This left CM playing the final match of the night. The tension was unbearable but despite the pressure, CM hit D10 to win the match.

The team now have a well earned rest period of two weeks due to the withdrawal of a number of teams from the league.
