BETWS RFC DARTS REPORT

This week, the team travelled up the valley to The Colliers, Garnant. The team comprised Arwyn Owen (AW) (Capt), Arwyn Roberts (AR), Tony Archer (TA), Jeff Thomas (JT), Alan Smith (AS), Terry Davies (TD), Don Griffiths (DG), Emrys Wilcox (EW), Mike Towell (MT), with Ron Richards (Team Manager) and travelling supporters Gwilym Davies and Brian Wigley making up the party.

 TA, AR and AS played the opening threes, and despite a slow start, managed a win with TA going out on 48. MT, EW and DG, supposedly the weaker three, then opened their game with a bang with scores of 81, 81 and 90. EW and DG maintained their high scoring with MT going out on D13 to make it 2-0 to Betws.

 The pairs started with DG and EW unable to maintain their form and lost making it 2-1. AR and TD (cuz1 & cuz2) then took to the ockey and despite a slow start, AR took the game with a double 8. MT and JT then played and lost – enough said! The score was now delicately poised at 3-2 to Betws.

 The singles started with JT throwing abysmally (see, I can spell it) and lost. TA, AO and AR then won their singles making the game safe with the score now 6-3. AS could not maintain last week’s epic form and lost as did TD, making the final score 7-5 to the visitors.

 The after match meal consisted of hot dogs and chips. We all enjoyed the fare especially TD, who’d obviously learned a lot from the eating habits of Rhydian Murray! Members of the home team were quite disconcerted when they came to eat to find that plenty of rolls were left, but the sausages had mysteriously disappeared!

 Next week sees the team at home to the Old Cross.
