Pontyates 0 Betws 60
Betws 2nds surprisingly managed to
overcome the devastating blow of their
Captain Gwilym Lewis being unavailable
and recorded probably the biggest win in
their history. Lee Moulton stepped into
Gwilym’s large shoes and a team
performance saw them rattle up an
impressive score.
Gavin Rees lead the scoring, crossing 4
times whilst Emyr Tarw bagged two
tries. The team led by 40 at half time
but the performance deteriorated in the
2nd half as 1st team players came on to
dilute the talent. Youngsters Nathan
Jones, Glyndwr Evans and Luke Knockout
showed some deft skills whilst Dylan
bach did well taking over as the oldest
player on the field from Alan Ice
(‘retiring Al’ has now finally left the
squad and can be found instead telling
punters in the Coopers what a good
player he was).
Having only reformed this season,
Pontyates found this cup match a fixture
too far and will be happy to return to
league duties where they are going well
in Section 3. Utility back Mathew Billo
declared defiantly ‘we were robbed’ but
it is Betws who will now meet the Amman
Quins for a place in the quarter finals.
